Frequently Asked Questions

What if my DJ gets sick?

This is very uncommon, but we prepare for this by booking one less event than we have DJ's so their is a back up readily available. If this is needed the way we prep each event and how thorough our planner is means that not only can we get the needed songs and information to the other DJ, but they will have everything needed to rock the party!

How many songs should I request?

Every client wants a different level of control. Some folks want to provide a complete list and have us not deviate, others want to give us a few songs then use our experience to read the room and figure out the rest. We are comfortable with any level of picking the music. Generally we recommend telling us about 10-20 songs that you and your guests absolutely love and let us take it from there.

Should we feed the DJ?

This is not required, but keep in mind we will be on site from about 2-3 hours before your guests arrive until about 1 hour after they leave and we will not have the ability to leave for dinner. Most DJ's keep this in mind and pack some snacks, but a meal is always appreciated and is the norm!

Should we tip the DJ?

We do not include gratuity in the contract price. The norm is to tip the DJ 10-20% if they did a great job. This is entirely up to you and completely between you and the DJ

How long have you been DJing?

Every DJ is a little different, Tim and Mike have been DJing professionally for 20 years. We require that each one of the Event Perfect DJ's completes approximately 80 hours of online training which is taught by some of the best DJ's in the world! Before they even get to that point they must shadow DJ Tim for 1-2 years in the field at weddings. During this time they also complete weekly training with Tim

What are the payment terms?

We require a $200.00 retainer due at contract signing. This is NON-REFUNDABLE. The balance may paid by cash, check or credit card. If paying by check it must be received two weeks prior to the event. If paying by credit card the payment must be made at least 24 hours prior to the event. The only form of payment accepted on the day of the event is cash upon our arrival.

Do you have a back up and what equipment do you use?

We have several layers of protection. First we use really high quality equipment so it is less likely to malfunction, but we plan for that by using a system that is basically two in one so we can be up and running again in a very short amount of time. The second line of defense is having some smaller more common failure items on hand so we can instantly swap out a cable. Finally if we're experiencing a catastrophic failure we have additional back up equipment in our vehicle.

Do you have any samples of your work or could we see you live?

If we are at a public event we would love to have you come by, but at a wedding this is not possible. We need to be 100% focused on that days couple and could not have anyone crash their wedding. For samples check out each DJ's bio on the about us page for links.

Keep in mind when listening to us or any DJ that to get the proper perspective it is a challenge to hear a short clip of a mix or two and make an informed opinion. Many times the night has to be viewed as a whole and half of the magic is being their in person to experience it. Additionally we customize the music to each event so hearing a sample of one particular wedding won't give you an accurate representation of how flexible and adaptable we are.

Will the DJ take requests?

Our planner covers requests in depth. We also provide ample space for you to not only tell us what music you love, but also what your family/friends love. We even have a section for you to give us song selections which are significant to any of your particular guests so we've got a great idea of what we will need.

On the day of we will take "filtered" requests, but you indicate on the planner if you want us to and we even have a section that covers how you want us to handle the commonly requested line dances.  By filtered request we mean that we will play it if it's not on your do not play list and makes sense. If it is something that is not appropriate we will guide the guest to a different selection so they feel included in the event!

How far in advance should we book?

We recommend booking about 1-2 years in advance. We participate in multiple bridal shows, do a ton of referral work and keep a very small staff of extraordinarily talented DJ's so we fill up quick.
